<dc:description xml:lang="it">Una delle mappe magnetiche contenute nel volume VI dell&#39; &quot;Histoire naturelle des minéraux&quot;, celebre trattato naturalistico in più volumi di Buffon. L&#39;intero volume è specificamente dedicato alle declinazioni e inclinazioni dell’ago magnetico, calcolate sulla base delle osservazioni raccolte dai viaggiatori a partire dal 1775.
La mappa riflette l’interesse crescente per il magnetismo terrestre nel corso dell’Illuminismo: rappresenta infatti un tentativo di cartografare fenomeni non solo geografici ma anche fisici, in contesti geografici reali.</dc:description>
